The Price Companies, Inc., based in Monticello, Arkansas, is one of the largest and most experienced wood processing companies in the U.S.  It was established by John Porter Price in 1965 as a lumber, logging, and sawmilling operation. The Price Lumber Co. sawmill still bears his name. In 1981, the company engineered a rotating drum tree debarker that eventually changed the focus of Price from lumber and milling to equipment fabrication and contract wood chipping.

In the early 1980’s, Mr. Price conceived the idea of marketing contract chipping mill services. The concept involved constructing and operating a Price-designed chipping mill for the benefit of a host pulp and paper producer.

Today The Price Companies operate 19 facilities under contract for many of the most respected manufacturing companies in America – including International Paper, Rayonier, Graphic Packaging, and Georgia Pacific.
